HARMONY

THE PROJECT
A basic IKEA chair was given within an open assignment. Immediately I thought of a concept that would challenge the perception of the user. A concept wherein the usability of the chair would be questioned, however the final product would provide more than the chair could ever do, a seating area for two persons.
The core of the concept was to be set as 'Harmony. Pointing towards an equality of volumes working together to provide function to the product.

Through a time consuming process of form studies the final form was created and ready for production. During this process the core idea of the concept was used as a leading factor of decision making considering the final form of the project.
At the end of the course 'Harmony' was selected for the annual project exposition at Elisava due to it's clean aesthetic and conceptual translation to a functioning piece of furniture.

The black pine chair sinks, translating it unusable.
However, the white volume restores a level, functional surface for sitting.
In Harmony.
